Can Olive Oil Get Any Healthier?
Posted by Stephanie Gallagher
Yes -- When You Add Omega-3 Fatty Acids
You probably already know that olive oil is one of the healthiest fats around. But a new olive oil enriched with omega 3 fatty acids makes this good fat even healthier.
If you're into healthy food news, you probably know that omega 3 fatty acids play a critical role in the prevention of many diseases, from heart disease to diabetes, dementia and obesity. Omega 3s are also vital in supporting overall brain functioning.
But it isn't always easy to get those omega 3 fatty acids into your diet. Until now.
Italica Imports, a producer and distributor of Spanish olive oil in the United States, has just introduced an extra virgin olive oil enriched with omega 3 fatty acids. Use it as you would any other olive oil -- in salad dressings, sauces, marinades, bread dips and more.
The Italica Omega 3 extra virgin olive oil sells for $6.99 for a 17-ounce bottle and will be available at Pathmark, Key Foods stores and Publix stores in New York City, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina this month.
